Kansas Farmer Builds Sustainable Eco Friendly Buildings

When you drive to the rural parts of Jefferson County, you will see more than a dozen eco friendly buildings. These eco friendly structures are made from straw bales, and they are quite similar to the sustainable buildings built by settlers more than hundred years ago.
Phil-Holman Herbert wanted to build an eco friendly workshop, and he used new techniques along with ancient barn-raising techniques to build a sustainable workshop. He plasters his straw-bales to insulate the building and make it immune to fire and rot.
The straw-bale structures have generated a lot of interests among people interested in alternative buildings, and Phil has started a weekend course to teach other how to use straw bales to build solid, sustainable structures.
